SIC 2550 is included in the final 2027 BICS list. At the government's planning range, every 1 GWh of eligible grid electricity is worth roughly £35,000–£40,000 a year. The next question is whether your products and site electricity allocation support the claim.
The figures below show the annual value at full exemption using the government's £35–£40/MWh planning range. Actual relief depends on eligible products, pro-rating, grid imports and any overlapping Supercharger relief.
BICS requires the applicant to be registered on Companies House, operate in an eligible SIC, manufacture eligible HS products in Great Britain and use at least 33 MWh of grid electricity a year at the manufacturing site.
Where a site makes both eligible and ineligible products, the eligible share of grid electricity determines the exemption band.
The application guidance says submitted applications cannot be amended. For a forging site, the practical preparation is therefore to make sure the site boundary, MPANs, electricity bills, product evidence and pro-rating rationale agree before the application goes in.
Meridian's £500 Readiness & Pre-Submission Review is an independent second check. It does not require you to replace an existing energy broker, CCA adviser or internal team. The review checks the applicant entity, site/MPAN mapping, pro-rating logic, Supercharger overlap and evidence gaps before submission.
