The checker applies the commodity-code headings and exclusions in Schedule 16 of the Finance Act 2026, cross-checked against HMRC's policy summary. Broader headings are tested as prefixes; named exclusions are tested first.
Commodity codes can change with the UK Tariff. The result therefore shows the data date and should be confirmed against the code in force when the good passes the tax point. This tool is general information, not customs, tax or legal advice.
